Josh Gooden - Cinematographer/Director & Professional Photographer

I have directed and edited short films, commercials, music videos, weddings, and fashion photography both nationally and internationally.

In 2007 I won an international award from "The Technology Student Association for my short film, "Life."

In 2008, I made an award winning PSA about alcohol awareness that aired across the state of Virgina.

In 2009, world-renowned camera accessory manufacturer, Zacuto, recognized me for my commercial work and I was awarded their highly honored Z-Kudos award.

I bring a real passion, energy and dedication to your project no matter how big or small it is. I will always deliver the absolute best that I can every single time.

I have embraced the high definition market with full HD resolution Sony Cinema Alta XDcam cameras and 35mm adapters, which replicate the look of film. The "film look" uses 35mm Nikon and Zeiss lenses to create selective focus much like one would see only in cinema or high-end television. To further my cinematic look, I utilize a Steadicam, which allows me to freely walk around with the camera attached to me via a vest and arm without any visible shake. They are usually used in bigger productions because it requires little set up time unlike the traditional dolly and track. I am one of a select few of operators in Virginia, so this type of technology will greatly increase production value. I also utilize an Arri lighting package, a full audio kit, dolly, slider, and more.

My recent work includes films for Panera Bread, Where To Get Engaged Inc, Charles Green, Christopher William Jewelers, Crosskeys Vineyards, Bravo Italian Restaurant, Rocky's Gold and Silver, Throne Magazine, and the Pure Water Forum.

Aw thanks! :] Loving your style too.

Ah, forgot to say this, but in the spirit of DeviantART- thanks for the favorites!
:iconloveisacommodity:
So... let's get this straight.
You've done all of that, and you're only eighteen?
I'm officially impressed.

Great, great gallery, by the way. I'll be coming to Virginia soon, anything in particular I need to see?
:icon91ststudios:
Aw thanks! :] I have quite a passion for photography/cinematography.

Colonial Williamsburg is lovely if you get a chance to go. It has loads of historic buildings, actors, taverns, and shops. I have several shots of it in my gallery. I noticed on your journal that you said you were coming to Charlottesville, which is also fantastic. Be sure to checkout the downtown section for the amazing restaurants and the UVA Rotunda for a great photo op. I'm only 45 minutes from Charlottesville, so if you are still looking for a photographer, let me know! I live in Harrisonburg, which is across the mountain from it.
:iconloveisacommodity:
Your gallery makes that very apparent. : )
Did you ever attend any kind of school for photography, or was it just something you picked up along the way?

Oh, fantastic! I'll have to be sure to check it out while we're there.

And as for setting up a photo shoot, I think that would be amazing! You'll have to excuse me, as I've not the slightest idea where anything in virginia is, but are there any particular places you'd be interested in shooting? Also, if you want it, you can have my Facebook page. [link]

I actually learned mainly from visiting forums, interacting with other photographers online, and in person. Plus shooting thousands of photos as an editor/staff photographer during my time in high school. I am always trying to do something different than the typical shots.

If we went to Harrisonburg there is some great locations like an abandoned factory, nice downtown area, and countryside. I'll investigate more for Charlottesville, but there is plenty of amazing places there. Its more urban for sure.
:iconloveisacommodity:
I've always thought that photographers that started off on their own were better than those that attended special schools. :) It's almost like they've been taught to think inside the box, rather than out.

Likewise, I can research as well. Harrisonburg sounds really nice, and I'd be up for going just about anywhere within reason, (which Harrisonburg is,) so I think now it's just a matter of pinning down a specific location. Anyway, I'll send you my personal contact info through Facebook, and then if you want, we could spit-ball.
